Da Ma Cai Brings Festive Cheer to Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim dan OKU Mesra Petaling Jaya Through Staff-in-the-Community Programme

15 December 2025

In the spirit of the festive season, staff volunteers from Da Ma Cai carried out a meaningful outreach visit to Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim dan OKU Mesra Petaling Jaya as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the Staff-in-the-Community Programme.

The initiative began with volunteers purchasing and donating essential daily necessities to support the home’s ongoing needs. These included staple food items such as rice, cooking oil, milk powder, and biscuits, as well as other critical supplies like disposable diapers. In addition, cash vouchers were contributed to help the home manage its day-to-day operational requirements.

To further spread festive joy, the volunteers organised a special Christmas afternoon celebration for the residents. The event featured an interactive magic show filled with music, balloons, and laughter, creating a cheerful and uplifting atmosphere. A professional face painter was also present, delighting the children with Christmas-themed designs. The celebration was made even more special with cakes prepared to commemorate the birthdays of three children residing at the home.

“Every disabled person is equal to an ordinary person, having the ability to learn and adapt to the surroundings, and able to enjoy their lives with others,” shared caretaker Chris Ng. “Continued community engagement plays an important role in supporting and improving the quality of life of our residents.”

Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim dan OKU Mesra Petaling Jaya is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing care and support for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities, including Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and learning disabilities. Currently, the home cares for 49 individuals aged between 9 and 60 years old. More than half of the residents require assistance with personal hygiene and rely on adult diapers, while 16 individuals are fully dependent on staff for feeding.

Members of the public who wish to support Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim dan OKU Mesra Petaling Jaya may find further information on the organisation’s website at https://yspjcharity.org.

“For this round of visits, we actively involved our Graduate Trainees,” said a Da Ma Cai representative. “This approach introduces them to our CSR initiatives while providing valuable, hands-on exposure to meaningful community service early in their careers.”

One of the staff volunteers shared, “This experience has been truly eye-opening, especially seeing the shiny smile on the residents face. I’ve learned a great deal and hope to encourage more colleagues to participate in similar charitable activities in the future.”
