Christmas Cheers with Good Samaritan Home

In conjunction with the celebration of Christmas, Da Ma Cai through its Staff-in-the-Community programme treated the children from Good Samaritan Home (GSH), Klang to a fun movie outing and delicious Christmas luncheon.

Mrs YM Ong, founder of GSH, shared the challenges faced by non-governmental organisations during Da Ma Cai’s visit to Good Samaritan Home.

“The donation amount we received for this year is far below the donation we received previous year. Nearly all the charitable organisations are facing similar funding issues. We are all in need of the kind gestures from the public,” said Mrs Ong. “With the new school semester starting soon, I am thankful that Da Ma Cai approached us and brought sizable Christmas goody bags filled with school uniforms, shoes and school bags for our children.”

“Christmas is our favourite time of the year. We can’t wait to bake more gingerbread man and Christmas cookies with the new electric oven that is also sent by Da Ma Cai,” Mrs Ong added.

Michelle Kee, one of the children from GSH shared after a fun day with Da Ma Cai staff volunteers: “It is very seldom we were spoilt with Christmas goody, latest superhero blockbuster and a very sumptuous meal like today, we are beyond grateful.”

“We have learned the value of giving to others especially during the holiday season by donating to charity that provides for underprivileged in need. Through this volunteering programme, we have enjoyed selecting all the schools necessities including choosing the right sizes and ensuring best quality for the children,” explained Veron Ng, Marketing Communications Manager of Da Ma Cai.

Good Samaritan Home located in Klang was founded in 1999. They currently cares for 30 children aged between 3-20 years old, who come from broken family. The home seeks not only to provide for their physical and material needs, but to develop the children to their full potential, to provide the children a future with good education, equipped with opportunities to become a responsible and productive citizen to the society.
