Da Ma Cai staff volunteers reach out to Ci Hang senior citizens in conjunction with Wesak

Shah Alam, 28 May 2018

It is a day to slow the pace of life to enjoy talks, hugs and laughter when a group of Da Ma Cai staff volunteers spent a day with senior citizens at Persatuan Kebajikan Ci Hang-Chempaka Selangor (PKCHCS) in conjunction with the Wesak Day celebration.

After the short brief and tour around the old folks home, the centre was buzzing with magic and laughter as the magic performance starts. The magician interacted closely with the residents as most of the tricks required their participation which was a fun and mind blowing  experience.

Lunch time started at noon after the mesmerizing magic performance. Da Ma Cai volunteers helped to serve and shared a meal together with the residents. Everyone enjoyed the hearty meal and the warm connection.

Da Ma Cai staff volunteers then brought out a collection of all-time-favourite board games to play together with the residents. The residents of PKCHCS had surprised the volunteers with their energy and alertness even right after the lunch. In addition, several senior citizens had a chance to feel like a professional singer when they belted out a few good titles during the karaoke session.

During this social visit, Da Ma Cai presented PKCHCS with RM6,000  groceries shopping vouchers as a support in alleviating the burden of PKCHCS in its daily operation. Residents from PKCHCS also received little gift bags filled with goodies, including cookies and blanket that Da Ma Cai volunteers had put together earlier.

Da Ma Cai staff volunteers are thankful for the valuable experience, not only to play a part in helping to give back to the community but also brighten the day of the elderly.

“You are never too old for anything, here at PKCHCS, we promote active living and live meaningfully through various planned activities and programmes, “ said Desmond Yeow, Chairman of PKCHCS.
