Speaking in an interview, the lucky winner recounted how an ordinary Saturday evening became a pivotal moment in her life. “My relatives from China came to visit, so we decided to have dinner together at a restaurant. It was just a casual gathering, but something about that night felt special,” she began.

The family was seated in a private dining room marked with the number 888, a number widely considered auspicious in Chinese culture, symbolizing wealth and prosperity. “I immediately noticed the room number and thought it was lucky,” she shared. As the evening went on, another detail caught her attention—the dinner bill totalled exactly RM4173.

“I couldn’t stop thinking about the numbers,” she said, recalling how the combination of the room number, the bill total, and the fact that it was a Saturday—a day when she often tries her luck—led her to make a quick decision. “I decided to increase my chances by boxing the numbers and use them as my combination for the 1+3D jackpot. It just felt right, as though the universe was giving me a sign. As expected, boxing numbers is the most effective way!”

“Checked at least 5 times”
When the results were announced on Sunday, the winner could hardly believe her eyes. “I checked the numbers at least five times to make sure. My heart was racing! It felt surreal. I never imagined I would win such a huge amount,” she said, still awed by her good fortune.

Despite her monumental win, the jackpot winner is keeping her feet firmly on the ground. When asked about her plans for the RM16.2 million windfall, she expressed a heartfelt desire to share her luck with others. “I believe in giving back. A portion of the winnings will go to charities that support underprivileged communities, education, and healthcare,” she said. “It’s my way of showing gratitude and making a positive impact on society.”
