80 charitable organisations nationwide receive a total of RM800,000 from Da Ma Cai, Da Ma Cai Chinese New Year Festival Charity Programme 2016 for Northern Region kicked off with the thunderous drums and trilling lion dance performance at the Old Folks Home Jelapang, The Central Welfare Council Malaya (Ipoh Branch) today. RM10,000 each were presented to 23 charity bodies from Perak, Penang, Kedah and Perlis amounting to RM230,000.
Da Ma Cai Senior Manager for Agency Management, Mr Yap Seong Ling said that with this year’s contribution, the Festival Charity Programme has surpassed the RM15 million mark.
“The financial contribution will go towards the development of charities and voluntary organizations that provide services for the elderly, orphans, socio-economically deprived and disabled communities.” Mr. Yap said.
200 Homes Representatives Attended
“This community outreach initiative, which has been on-going for the past twenty-two years, has contributed in a small way to individuals from all walks of life in need of financial assistance for their basic living necessities, especially during the festive period.”
“Da Ma Cai will continue to strive at giving back to the community, and seek to bring better and more improved community programmes that will bring joy and meanings to the lives of others.” said Mr Yap.
This activity will also be carried out on the 19 February in Malacca with the distribution of RM 22,000 to 22 charitable organizations.
The Chairman of Old Folks Home Jelapang, Mr. Hew Hock Hin said that “as one of the committee of this home, he is glad that Da Ma Cai has chosen his home to conduct this meaningful programme.”
Some 200 guests comprising the disabled, orphans, the elderly and the poor have attended and received the aid from Da Ma Cai.
The organizer had also arrange lion dance, Chinese cultural and singing performances to entertain the guests. In keeping with tradition, Da Ma Cai Senior Management and Agents also presented “ang pows” and mandarin oranges to the beaming guests.
